About Maryellen Stadtlander
Employed as a freelancer and as an assistant to a few special photographers in the 1980’s thru 2000 where I specialized in lighting, moving and setting up equipment, darkroom work - and running film to the labs. Remember film? Editorial, advertising and lifestyle work included shoots for Elle Decor, Martha Stewart Living, Architectural Digest, Country Living and Real Simple magazines to name a few. I assisted my mentor, friend and gifted photographer George Ross for 10 years and lost him to Covid19 in March of 2020. It was during those years with George that I learned so much about lighting and how it can determine the mood of any subject. This website is an expression of my joy in using the camera and the importance of the still life to preserve quiet moments or simply to quiet life’s busier ones. The images herein are a continuum of my work and life as a photographer.
